...was started in November 2014 by Brad Hoshaw as a support and resource group for participating songwriters. The BSE strives to provide an atmosphere in which songwriters of every skill level can share, exchange ideas and learn in order to grow and develop in the songwriter’s craft.

In 2019 Mr Hoshaw moved to California and turned over the BSE to Doug Kuony and a group of administrating members.

Many BSE meetings are open to anyone with an interest in songwriting, whether a seasoned veteran or someone simply seeking more information about the process. The BSE has no teacher, however, presentations on various aspects of songwriting are presented by members from time to time. The meetings do present a continuing forum for possible answers to questions participants may have. The meetings also present participants with access to a community of songwriters who may be willing to engage in projects or teach lessons on various subjects.

Until the spring of 2020 meeting were held in venues in the Benson district of Omaha, NE USA. When the pandemic shut down public gatherings, we switched to Zoom meetings every other week, usually on Tuesday evenings. While these are not as personal as live meetings, they do allow members who have moved out of the area to continue to participate in our community.

We encourage those interested in joining our Zoom meetings to participate through links posted on our Facebook pages. The first three meetings are free. If participants wish to continue with us, membership must be approved by our council of administration and a fee of $50 annually is requested. Annual membership dues provide you with opportunities to take part in our yearly projects and to contribute to our bimonthly writing challenges. You can also solicit input from other members when working on projects and musical ideas and much more!
